It’s turn for Teacher Jeff 謝永隆老師 together with five other volunteers to guide us for this third training session. First of all, we went to the medicinal botanical garden beside the visitor center. Yeah! Medicinal botanical garden! As a pharmacy student, everything about medicine automatically attracts my attention and what’s more, I seldom have the chance to be in touch with all those medicinal plants or herbs.Teacher Jeff first introduced the five different categories of medicinal plant there including anti-cancer and immunity-improving plants, aromatic herbs, medicinal plants, liver-protecting and lung-moistening plants, lastly digestion-improving plants. There are about 200 kinds of medicinal herbs in the garden. Each plant has its own unique characteristics and function so it’s really hard to remember them all in a day. I will still try my best to remember though!
After a brief introduction of medicinal botanical garden and some of the popular herbs, we headed to the forest trail again due to time limitation. And since we had already went to the forest trail during the first session, Teacher Jeff asked us some questions to check our understanding. Luckily we can answer his questions quite well! *Deep breathe* or else we have to go for few more lessons I guess haha!
Teacher Jeff taught us how to differentiate birds in the forest by their chirps and whirs too! It was so funny when all of us trying to imitate the sound of the birds!
Once again, thank you Teacher Jeff! Really hope to see you again:D
Thank you for reading!
